Shane’s music journey started when he was inspired by the music and early works of The
Beatles, Bryan Adams, Further Seems Forever and Third Eye Blind. After hearing the works of
acoustic guitar players Erik Mongrain, and Peter Ciluzzi, and began exploring fingerstyle guitar
playing.
Shane is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player for his band, Potential Problem, which
released an EP in 1999 named “Better Plans for That Misplaced Tomorrow”. Shane has
performed with his band at The Esplanade, Cuppage, Orchard Green, The Substation, Home
Club and Elements, where he played alongside local indie band Plain Sunset. In 2003, Shane’s
band performed alongside international artistes like Fonzie (Portugal), The Gloria Record (USA),
and Band Wagon (USA) in an annual indie music festival Baybeats at The Esplanade.
Shane has taught at Cristofori Music School A2G, Accent de Music, Klassique Musik, Stellar Music
School, and Music Concerto. He has also trained students from many government schools like
Catholic Junior College, First Toa Payoh Secondary School, Zhonghua Secondary School, Keming
Primary School, Clementi Town Secondary School, CHIJ St Nicolas, Tanglin Secondary School,
Swiss Cottage Secondary School and Ping Yi Secondary School just to name a few.
Shane is currently working on his personal acoustic instrumental album, which he plans to
release early 2010. He will be using his Fairclough Sky Electric for this album.
